Have patience and be an encourager: Getting your photo taken can be awkward if you’ve never had it done before, or if it’s been a while! It’s likely he hasn’t been up at night looking at IG hashtags and blog posts so have patience with him. It’s completely normal to feel nervous before having your photo taken – the best thing you can do is continue to encourage and build up your groom throughout the whole process!
And just to show that it is possible for guys to have fun during the engagement session, here are a few of my favorite photos of grooms genuinely enjoying their session:
Share your “WHY”: In any relationship, communication is key! Tell him why you chose your photographer and explain their style to him. These days, sessions aren’t just “smile at the camera”. I want you two to be focused on each other and your love for one another. It’s your time off to spend two hours with each other, embrace that! Express why these images are so important to you. He’s your man, he cares for you and when you tell him these details, he will understand!
Plan for a date afterward: Turn your session into a date night! Don’t just plan for an hour photo session, plan for something fun afterward like a movie, dinner or even both! When you have something awesome to look forward to, it makes everything else go by easier and quicker! You two will already be in the flirty mood, so why not?
