Guys. This is the craziest post to write… but a week ago today we closed on our very first home. I seriously cannot believe this is happening!
Eight weeks and 2 days ago we had lunch with our realtor (aka, my step-mom) and decided to go check out a few homes that recently came on the market. We planned on going to two houses in a new city that we have never lived in, with low expectations. We visited those two spots and weren’t impressed with either, however, the second home was in a great neighborhood with a bunch of elementary school-aged kiddos. We decided to just drive around and see if there were any listings we could check out. Low and behold, we found one tucked away in the corner of the neighborhood that just spoke to me. I know, so cheesy, right? NO. This place was literally like buy me. We left. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. ALL NIGHT AND DAY… so, the next day I called my realtor and we went back to the house.
So eight weeks and one day ago, we put in a low offer and swung for the fences on other things… just to see. I mean, we asked for A LOT! A lofted room to be enclosed, 3.5% closing costs, a homeowner’s warranty, and even for the seller to make any repairs requested by the HOA. We were counter offered a day later, at a reasonable price point with all of our extras included!
Long story short… it’s been a six week long roller coaster dealing with financing, homeowner’s insurance, home inspections, repairs, and so much more but IT’S DONE! We sign the paperwork and cut a hefty check to close on our very first home. Right now I only have a few photos from the listing but once we get in tomorrow… let’s just say IG is going to blow up!
