Shifting Sands Beach Wedding, Virginia Beach VA.

Katie + Mike were married on a summer evening in August. They had chosen the sandy beaches of Virginia Beach at the Shifting Sands Beach club on Damn Neck. The first day we met I asked Katie and Mike how they met, and it was a fun story! Katie was out with some girlfriends for “girls night”, when Mike noticed her. The girls had blown a few guys off, they had weak pickup schemes and Katie wasn’t having any of that. Until Mike. He had stolen the cue ball from Katie’s game of billiards. When he returned it, she was obviously not amused asking “Why would you do that”? Mike’s clever response had her sold… “I needed a reason to talk to you”. How sweet is that? They have been inseparable ever since!

Their wedding day was sweet, fun, romantic, surprising, and did I say fun? The look in Mike’s eyes when he saw Katie during their first look was incredibly sweet. The letter he wrote her was absolutely adorable and ended with a surprise.  You’ll have to scroll down to see what I mean.

They planned on a beautiful beach wedding, however mother nature had different plans. There were strands of heavy thunderstorms passing through the area, and the worst was supposed to hit Shifting Sands right as the ceremony started. Katie & Mike made the call to move the ceremony indoors about an hour prior to go time. We managed to get outside on the beach a few times for portraits, and even captured the wicked clouds in a few shots, including the bridal party after the first look!
