Washington DC Cherry Blossom
Last spring I got an email from a bride who had a horror story from her wedding day, regarding her photographer. After 6 months of cricket chirps, she had received an email from her wedding photographer that there was a camera malfunction and she would not receive her family portraits, bridal party portraits, and the majority of her bride and groom shots. This bride had emailed me to have a “re-do” of sorts, at a local lavender field, you can see that session here.
It’s at that session where I met Kiara and Sean. See, that bride is Kiara’s sister, Makayla, so she was there to be a part of both family and bridal party portraits. I made it a point to grab a photograph of Kiara and Sean alone at the session, just to maybe put myself in their mind. I guess it worked because a few months later after they got engaged, we got in contact and I’m now shooting their wedding!
Speaking of their engagement… I obviously saw it on Instagram through their stories and was so excited for them. Especially because they got engaged in the same city Caleb and I got engaged in. Vegas. I was SO thrilled to see their “we’re engaged” posts because I was sure we would be a great match for their wedding day.
As far as engagements go, they’re literally one of my favorite sessions to shoot. This one was a particularly special type of session since we were trying to capture them at the Tidal Basin in Washington DC during Cherry Blossom season! If you’re unfamiliar, this brings a lot of tourists to DC and it only lasts about 7-10 days.. so we were on a tight time budget. We also decided that a sunrise session would be wise in order to beat the huge crowds that amass for blossom season. I think it paid off! You’ll see for yourself.
