Chloe and Dalton’s Wedding at The Planter’s Club in Suffolk Virginia last week was one I won’t soon forget. This wedding was one I had been looking forward to for quite a while. Seriously. I volunteered with Chloe in my church worship band for years before her family joined the ministry at another congregation. I still bumped into her frequently at one of my favorite stores to buy work clothes where she happens to be in management. I was so surprised, and honored when she asked if we could grab a coffee to talk about me photographing her wedding!! Mostly in part to the fact that her mother is a photographer as well, and being hired by another photographer is ALWAYS a huge compliment that I never take lightly.
Chloe and Dalton are one of those fun, outgoing, in-love couples with a bigger picture of marriage and having The Lord at the center, and I love having this when I photograph couples. I wish for laughter, and joy, and down-to-earth brides with big hearts for the people in their lives.
The day started at Chloe’s parents home where hair was done by Chloe’s sister and make-up was done by a family friend. Chloe was surrounded with so much love from her girls and her parents. There was no tension in the air, even though rain was threatening the opportunity for an outdoor ceremony.
Chloe decided to get her dress on in her childhood bedroom. I love how it felt like things had come around full circle. She was jaw-dropping and her positivity was more radiant than ever. She was surrounded by her bridesmaids as they all were just so excited to be a part of the day.
The ceremony overlooked the Nansemond River and their boho and personal touches left so many people smiling. They read their own vows and had a key lock unity ceremony ending in Dalton chucking two keys into the river. The lock is attached to a piece of wood from Dalton’s family barn in Minnesota. They immediately had a family prayer after the unity ceremony.
All in all, it was truly a wonderful day and the threat of rain held off ! Together, Chloe and Dalton completely compliment one another. He is always smiling (as is Chloe) and loves her deeply, and they are, indeed, a perfect match, and I am just bursting with joy that I get to document their love.
Chloe and Dalton, no one deserves this perfect day more than the two of you.
I am so beyond happy that I got to be there to witness the beginning of your next big adventure. Thank you a million times over for being so incredible. I hope this new adventure together gets better each and every day. Your joy is contagious and I absolutely loved being surrounded by it on your wedding day. Cheers to many more decades of love and happiness!
